The Healthy Kind: Avocado Edition

Now, frankly who doesn’t love avocados?

Now, frankly who doesn’t love avocados? Those delish green fruits even became a beloved Christmas present (aka ‘it’s an avocado, thanks’ video). But, for those of us who prefer to eat our avocados, they actually give us a few gifts of their own, besides their flavorful taste. So, putting the great taste aside, research has shown that these tinny fruits are jammed pack with loads of nutritional power and healthy benefits, no matter what you use them for. Whether you’re searching for a facemask to clear up some unwanted blemishes, a pop of flavor to add into your salad that will leave you feeling fuller longer or a natural alternative to balancing your blood sugar, avocados are your answer in 2019, and for years to come. Here a few positive health effects you should know about. And always, make sure you consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes to your diet.

1. Rejuvenate your skin:Rich in antioxidants such as carotenoids, vitamin E and vitamin C, avocados help you achieve the skin of your dreams by replenishing the skin’s natural protective barrier and it’s not even necessary for you to eat them. So, if you aren’t a fan of the flavor, no problem. The fatty acids in avocados is actually more effective when applied directly to your skin

2. Knock off that weight:Fats take longer to digest than carbohydrates or proteins, good thing these fats are ‘the good kind’ no pun intended!

Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are important in order to keep you full and satisfied after eating and by eating avocados in moderation you increase your ability to lower your body weight and reach you 2019 goals. Monounsaturated fats also prevent the spiking of blood sugar and insulin levels as well as improve your digestion.

3. See the benefits: Literally, many don’t know but according to studies avocados contain two phytochemicals that are concentrated in your eyes – lutein and zeaxanthin. They help minimize eye damage, including harmful ultraviolet rays. So, it’s safe to say you can see the benefits of avocados!
